I know, I know...
I've been away
a lot.
I'm hoping to keep this blog going, but I have turned into a Facebook junkie, and I find that soooo much easier to use. Working third shift has also taken its toll on my blog. I'm hoping that will change soon.
As for my new job, it's still fantastic, wonderful, fun and I'm in the honeymoon period. Third shift is working well for home and I'm able to get some sleep, too. I usually sleep from about 8:30am to either 3:30pm or 4.
Life is good. Sleep is good.
I just want to apologize to all my fellow bloggers for my absence. I'll do my best to keep the absences to a minimum, and I promise to stop by your blogs a time or two.
Thanks for stopping by, Faithful Reader. :)

Good Morning
at 3pm EST...
Yes, this has become my new wake-up time. Ahhhh....I admit.
I love it.
I never thought I'd be a good third-shifter, but I'm making the transition pretty well. I find myself staying wide awake all night, and I'm able to get pretty decent sleep during the day. As time goes on, I am able to stretch my sleep out a little longer each time.
The sleep goal for daytime: 8 uninterrupted hours.
The job is fantastic. There are times I think it's all a dream. No way can someone do something so meaningful, so wonderful, so rewarding, get paid for it AND enjoy it.
Wow.

NCLEX-RN exam complete
It's all over but the crying, Faithful Reader.
Well, I hope I don't cry...
Took my RN board exam this past Monday, and I should find out my results this afternoon. I'm nervous and anxious, but I'm feeling positive. No sense worrying about what I can't change, right?
Trust me.
You all will be among the first to know the news, good or bad.
On a different note, my nursing orientation is winding down. I have only 2 1/2 weeks remaining, and I will now spend the majority of the remainder on my shift.
Third shift.
That's right, peeps. I took a full-time third shift position at the hospital where I work. I wasn't going to turn down a full-time job in this economy, and since third shift works for my family, it was a pretty easy decision. Set schedule, accrue time off much faster, bigger shift premium (8%) and the option of picking up voluntary 4-hour shifts at double time.
We'll see how it goes.
My first night is tonight......
So much going on in this day!
Stay tuned....

Indoor TRI - DONE!!
What a freakin' blast!!
I had so much fun doing this indoor triathlon. I will definitely do it again next year...
Okay, here's how it worked:
Each segment (swim/bike/run) was 20 mins. I had to do as many laps in the pool (25 yd length), miles on the stationary bike, and laps around the track (1/4 mile indoor track) as I could. They allowed everyone a timed 5-minute transition between each segment.
I manged to do the following:
28.5 laps in the pool,
5.85 miles on the bike and
2 miles on the track.
:-)
Yay me!
It was soooooo fun...glad I did it. I'm a bit sore today, but it's fine.
I celebrated with friends and a little Guitar Hero solo work.

Swim/Bike/Run
Today is the day.
I am competing (I use that word loosely) in an indoor triathlon at my athletic club. We earn points for each lap in the pool, mile on the bike and lap on the track.
I've never done this event before, although I've heard about it, so I thought, "What the hell. It will be fun, right?"
Holy shit.
What was I thinking? I haven't even swam since last summer, so I'm sure my technique (what technique?) is terrible. I am hoping to make up for it on the bike and on the track.
Think they would let me make it a biathlon? ;)
Stay tuned for results....

Whew...Glad That's Over With
I had my final exam in my Basic Dysrhythmia course today at work. It's a very intense five-day course that reviews basic cardiac rhythm strips along with Advanced Cardiac Life Support information. We had both a written final exam along with an oral exam. Bottom line? If I didn't pass this class, I would be taken out of my current job on a cardiac floor and moved to a different job that didn't require me to know cardiac monitoring!
Ugh...
Glad that's over.
93% on the written portion.
100% on the oral portion.
Guinness and I have begun celebrating tonight.
Back with more later....

SHE'S BACK!!!!
And ready to run,
and live,
and love.
The past few months have been personally difficult, and suffice it to say, I come out of it stronger, more in love and happier than I have been in months, perhaps years.
At some point I will explain.
But, for now, I have returned....
And to celebrate my triumphant return, I have registered for this race.
REDEMPTION WILL BE MINE!!
Happy Friday, Faithful Reader.
